Having listened through the project in full about three times now, I feel confident in saying this will undeniably be one of, if not the best, mixtape’s of the year.
Because the music is so diverse, it really depends on your personal taste and even your current mood. It’s very difficult to sit here and select favorites off this project. With the majority of production coming from fellow Visionary signee, 6ix, the beat selection is just as versatile as Logic’s ability to create tracks. Writing, recording, mixing, mastering, engineering, producing (co-producing) all of his music, he leaves no room for error.
Logic’s newest installment of the evolution of Young Sinatra, Undeniable, encompasses everything from his first two mixtapes along with an entirely new page of qualities to appreciate. Serving up a blend of tracks for the streets, the avid fan of lyricism, college students, and even the fine groupie women (Bobby Soxer’s). Keeping the core values consistent with Young, Broke, & Infamous, Logic offered more originality and even more versatility. Logic has said Young Sinatra was a representation of the transformation of him turning from a boy into the young man he is today. Playing off his idol, the great Frank Sinatra, Logic’s fan base (shout out #RattPack & #BobbySoxers) was steadily growing. With very little blog coverage at that time, college sites began to join the movement which sparked a very successful sophomore mixtape, Young Sintra. At that time, Logic had a slim 1,500 Facebook fans and a couple thousand Twitter followers. Mainstream beats, lyrics with a deeper flavor than seven layer lasagna, & a repeated intellectual and versatile flow. Christening my ears withLogic’s debut mixtape, Young, Broke, & Infamous, it was evident the young Maryland MC bolstered a repertoire unlike any other up and coming hip-hop artist. I was first introduced to Logic by Chris Zarou last July when he signed an independent record deal with Visionary Music Group. I say “Logic”, you say …? Lyrics, versatility, confidence? Those are just a few of the 22 year old’s most distinguished characteristics. “I used to follow my dreams, until I caught up to them” – Logic Throughout this whole mixtape I haven’t heard anything close to Drizzy Drake- its all Logic, and with smooth production from within his Ratt Pack crew, the tracks on Young Sinatra: Undeniable flow from beginning to end and he even has a few comical skits to keep the feel of this project upbeat.Logic – Young Sinatra: Undeniable Posted by Grubeats on April 30, 2012 I don’t know what they have been listening to but Logic definitely has his own style and flow. Now, a lot of hip hop heads say that he has been copying Drake’s style and biting his flow. C Dot Castro, about his come-up and how he murders his haters. A few tracks to check out besides his singles “Numbers”, “Tic Tac Toe”, and “Spotlight” (which also has video treatment), would be my personal favorite “Relaxation”, which is about a girl catching major feelings after he hits her with the smoothness and also “Disgusting” Feat. He even has a way of telling a story with his lyrics which reminds me of Eminem around his Infinite days. He is a breath of fresh air and the way he uses his words are very reminiscent of the 90s era which is exactly what the game is missing.
Logic keeps this tape soulful while paying homage to the golden days of hip hop. And in my mind Young Sinatra has done it again because this project is flawless.
